After we landed in San Francisco, Thursday evening May 18, 2006.  Elisabeth is now a US Citizen!!

Charlotte Airport when we landed on Friday morning, May 19th.  This is after 17+ hours of being in an airplane and who knows how many hours of total travel (bus, airplane, layovers, etc)

Ron and Jan picked us up at the airport.  Ansley was glad to see them.  Elisabeth cried (alot).  We went to Cracker Barrel after this to get a good breakfast!

Our neighbors put a Welcome Home sign inside our house and left groceries in our fridge.  There was lots of fruit (yummy) and a Honeybaked Ham.  Delicious!

These last couple of weeks have been very busy.  We celebrated Ansley's 5th birthday,  Elisabeth's first birthday, Ansley's first week of Kindergarten and John's birthday (I won't mention how old he is......).  Elisabeth had her 1 year old doctor visit this week and got 4 shots!  She weighs 17 lbs 12 oz and is catching up very quickly.  I started giving her whole milk this week.  She isn't so sure about it.  I had to warm it up a bit because she didn't really like it cold.  We've also let her experiment with the sippy cup.  She tries to drink out of it but can't quite figure it out yet.   It won't be long though.

We had dinner with Shannon, Joe and Caroline Burns last night.  We all met at a local Asian restaurant.  Caroline it too cute!  She and Elisabeth are only 3 days apart in age and they are both from Hunan.  I hope they grow up to become good friends.  Caroline will also be going to the same daycare as Elisabeth so we'll get to see her every day.  Pretty neat!  And Catherine (one of our travel mate's little girls) is going to that daycare too.  It's like a little reunion every day!

Elisabeth has now learned to clap and is trying to pull up on everything.  She loves to stand up!  She's crawling faster and faster now.  We really have to keep an eye on her!  We had to put a gate in Ansley's doorway today because she kept crawling in Ansley's room and causing destruction.  Ansley was trying to play with her Barbies and it was really making her mad that Elisabeth kept knocking everything over and trying to eat all the Barbie shoes!

I finally posted new pictures.   There's more to come......I just have to find time to get them off the camera and re-size them.  Soon....

Sorry it's been so long since I posted.  I'm not sure how many people are still reading my posts or not.  It's been very busy (to say the least!) since we've been home.    Elisabeth has had 2 doctor's visits to try and catch her up on her shots.  We decided to start all over and give them all to her again.  She is eating very well and we haven't found anything she doesn't like yet.  When we took her to the doctor on May 30th she weighed 16 lbs 7 oz.  I took her to the doctor again today and she weighed 17 lbs 14 oz.  She's catching up quick!

She now has 2 teeth on the bottom and her 2 top front teeth have just broken through.  She is babbling a lot more now and has finally mastered the skill of crawling.  She's very proud of herself!   She can also get from her belly to a sitting position.   And she has perfected the skill of picking up food and getting it to her mouth.  She couldn't do any of these things 2 months ago.  We are excited that she is catching up and learning new skills so quickly.  She has adjusted to her new home and surroundings so well.  She goes to daycare everyday and likes the women that take care of her.  They are amazed at how far she's come since the first week she started there.

Ansley thinks she's the cutest baby ever (and we agree!) and still loves to act goofy and make her laugh.

It's hard to believe that it's almost Elisabeth's 1st birthday already.  The time has flown by.   Ansley just turned 5 and starts kindergarten this year.  Talk about time flying by!  I can't believe our baby is starting kindergarten!

I will post some new pictures soon.

It's our 14th anniversary today.  Wow how time flies!

This past weekend Elisabeth got to meet her Nana and Grandaddy for the first time.  She did very well with them and gave them lots of smiles.  We took a day trip to Mount Airy, NC (aka: Mayberry -- you know from Andy Griffith).  Elisabeth did well with the drive in the car and doesn't mind being in the car seat.

Yesterday we decided to blow up the little pool and put it in the front yard.  Ansley and her friend Kelsey enjoyed it and Elisabeth enjoyed it also.  I thought the water was quite cold but it was hot outside so eventually the water felt good.  Ansley and Kelsey also ran through the sprinkler but they decided the hose water was way too cold and decided the pool was the way to go.  Everyone had fun on a hot summer day!

I think we are finally getting over our jet lag.  Elisabeth is doing great and is adjusting well.  She is eating better and laughing and smiling alot.  We are all trying to get on some type of schedule.  Elisabeth still wakes up once per night around 3 or 4 am but hopefully that won't continue too much longer.  She did sleep through the night once since we've been home and that was so nice!

Ansley went back to daycare on Monday.  She wanted to go back so she could play with her friends.  It's been great for me because she gets to expend a lot of energy at school during the day and I get to spend some quality one on one time with Elisabeth.  I take Ansley a little later in the morning and pick her up a little earlier each day so her day there isn't quite as long as it normally is.  Her friends were so glad to see her and gave her big hugs!

Elisabeth is doing better and better about me being able to sit her down and actually walk away without her screaming.  She's getting more used to her surroundings and is doing better about meeting strangers.  She still doesn't like to be held by someone else but she's getting better about it.

I know I've been bad about getting recent pictures on the site but I've just been too tired and busy!  I forgot how much work it is to take care of an infant!  Fun but tiring!

(Check out the pictures of the cake that our neighbor, Mary, brought to us on Monday night.  We hated to cut it.  It's too pretty to eat!)

We arrived home today, May 19th.  Our flight landed around 6:30 am and after we loaded up all our luggage in Ron's truck we headed for the Cracker Barrel to have a good hot breakfast.  We were home by 10:00 am or so and we are so glad to be home!  Especially Ansley.  She had a great time on the trip but it wore her out. Now the unpacking begins!  That's a huge job in itself.

I plan to post pictures here soon (in the next day or two once I get some sleep).  Check back in a day or two.
